Played This Week

April 3, 2009

Here’s a bit of what’s been going on this week:

Lenny Breau, Guitar Sounds From Lenny Breau: His 1968 major label debut. I’ve been looking around the city for his albums but didn’t ever find much until recently. There was a cache, literally in a corner, at the folk festival store, and that’s where this one was hiding.

Guided by Voices, Earthquake Glue: Take your pick of Guided by Voices records, but this one is possibly the best presentation of the wonderful and bizarre poetry of Robert Pollard as a big rock and roll album. This one worked really well, songs and sound.

A couple of Dog Day tracks (the one posted by the band, and the ones Rick White filmed them playing) from the upcoming album Concentration. So good. Looking forward to the album.

A Tribe Called Quest. Just like in grade 7, y’all.
