Back this week with some new headphones.

Can – Tago Mago: I’ve been thinking about how this must have been received when it first came out. It’s still weird. It’s one of those records that has influenced tonnes of people and has been written about everywhere for years now. One of the sort that people praise so much you have to approach with a bit of skepticism in order to hear what’s actually there. What is there, in this case, is a strange, explorative record filled with heavy grooves. The drumming is out of sight on these old Can records. Given the fact that it was pieced together in part from improvised material and recordings of things that weren’t even supposed to be part of the songs, it remains wholly unique and non-duplicable.

Fujiya & MiyagiLightbulbs: This came out last fall and followed up on what the record before it (2006’s Transparent Things) put down. It’s a great mix of electronic and not, venturing into r&b, dance, and pop, and maintains both funkiness and wit throughout.

Sinnamon singles. Woo.

Something really good that’s not actually available yet. We’ll likely be talking about it soon, though.

If the thing that’s not out yet is the thing I’m thinking of, I believe it’s out on iTunes as of today.

There’s a link surreptitiously included in the sentence there. It’s probably what you’re thinking of.
