Relevant To Your Interests #032

January 7, 2010
  • Greg MacPherson has a new album coming out in March via Smallman.
  • The latest episode of VBS.TV’s Soft Focus with Ian Svenonius is an interview with Buzz from the Melvins, filmed at ATP NY last summer. Buzzo’s a funny guy, and I really hope they also sat down with David Yow while they were up there.
  • Need something to pad your Facebook profile or phpBB signature? Perhaps you could choose one or two of these 50 rock star quips. Here are some suggestions:

A kid once said to me ‘Do you get hangovers?’ I said, ‘To get hangovers you have to stop drinking.’

    – Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister

One time we saw some hookers but when we got closer we realized it was Mötley Crüe.

    – James Hetfield

Wow, what a bitch. Failing those, how about the collected wisdom of David Lee Roth?

I’m a family oriented guy; I’ve personally started four or five this year.

When I die, sprinkle my ashes over the 80’s.

We’ve all got out self-destructive bad habits, the trick is to find four or five you personally like the best and just do those all the time.

  • Speaking of rock stars and their bullshit, Bono can go fuck himself. YEAHYEAHEYEAHEYEAH!!
  • The BBC has declared cassettes are back and ponders whether MiniDiscs will be next. They won’t, because MiniDiscs were never popular to begin with. Anyway, suck it, Popmatters.
  • The Weakerthans live DVD and CD now has a release date. Live At The Burton Cummings Theatre is out via Epitaph on March 23.
  • Pavement would like you to buy their records. Again! Their entire Matador catalogue and a greatest hits double-LP is scheduled for release on March 9th. If you can correctly guess which tracks will appear on the best-of package, Matador might even send on a “lavish” trip to NYC to see them live.
  • Motivational speaker and party enthusiast Andrew WK might or might not be who he says he is. Or isn’t. Meaning he may (or may not) be the first person to play the Andrew WK “character.” If you look at photos of Andrew WK from before 2005, it definitely doesn’t look like the same dude who’s “playing” him now. Maybe he just lost weight and got a haircut, though? I’m super confused. Luckily he’s scheduled a Q&A event next month where he’ll clear all this up. Or not.
