Relevant To Your Interests #033

January 14, 2010
  • You know Jay Reatard died yesterday, right? From Gerard Cosloy, via Matablog:

It is the height of understatement to say I’m upset, confused and deeply saddened by the loss of one of the more amazing people I’ve been fortunate to know. In record company parlance, yeah, we’ve lost (let’s go down the checklist) a phenomenal performer, songwriter, and insatiable music lover. But we’ve lost a great friend as well, and that’s the part that hurts the most.

  • Next week, Sackville, New Brunwick’s campus and community radio station CHMA will host its annual Stereophonic festival. Now in its 7th year, the 2010 lineup includes Babette Hayward, Baby Eagle, BA Johnston, A/V, Cousins, The Bad Arts, Adam Mowery, Shotgun Jimmie, and lots more.
  • These Arms Are Snakes: over.
  • Swans: reunited, making a new album.
  • Ian Blurton’s latest project Happy Endings debuted in Toronto on January 6th. From NOW Magazine:

Blurton has been circulating CDRs of a new solo album, Happy Endings, which sees him expanding his rock roots to include trippy experimental sounds, Stones-influenced blues grooves and even disco rock.
