Records of Note: June 2010

June 9, 2010

A little late this time because I was overseas last week and not internetting much. Did you know Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi both have stars on Birmingham’s walk of fame, but there’s no love for Geezer Butler? What a world. Boring stories from my vacation notwithstanding, here’s a list of records coming out in June which may or may not be relevant to your interests. I pretty much always miss some, so please bring those to our attention in the comments.

June 1st
Melvins – The Bride Screamed Murder (Ipecac) [AV Club review]

June 8th
Against Me! – White Crosses (Sire) [Exclaim review]
DOA – Talk – Action = 0 (Sudden Death) [Exclaim review]
The Drums – s/t (Island) [Pitchfork review | Pitchfork Review Reviews counterpoint]
Ratatat – LP4 (XL) [Pitchfork review | Hipster Runoff commentary]
The Riverdales – Tarantula (“to be announced”)

June 15th
DEVO – Something for Everybody (Warner)
The Gaslight Anthem – American Slang (SideOneDummy) [free album stream on NPR]

June 22nd
Danzig – Deth Red Sabaoth (Evilive) [feature interview in Vice]
Sarah Harmer – Oh Little Fire (Universal Canada)
Stars – The Five Ghosts (Soft Revolution)
The Real McKenzies – Shine Not Burn (Fat)

June 29th
The Dopamines – Expect the Worst (It’s Alive)
Wolf Parade – Expo 86 (SubPop)

Related: I heard The Dopamines’ label-mates Fear of Lipstick from Moncton have a new LP out this month too, but I haven’t seen an official release date anywhere. They’re playing around their hometown a couple of times this weekend (including the headlining slot at a real corker of a show happening in Irishtown on Saturday), so they’ll be selling copies at those, I ‘magine?

Why so sad, Danzig? Do you need a star on a walk of fame somewhere?
