METZ – “Negative Space”

November 13, 2010

Our pals METZ recently unleashed a video for “Negative Space” from their third and most recent 7″ on We Are Busy Bodies (b/w “Automat”). Filmed entirely on an iPhone, it’s rough and raw and possibly vertigo-inducing, which is completely fitting for this lumbering track.

From Spinner.ca:

“Initially, I got in touch with our friend Dean Tzenos (Co-Director) because he has a Super 8 camera — I was hoping to just borrow it and do it myself,” Metz singer-guitarist Alex Edkins tells Spinner. “But, after going over some ideas with Dean, we decided that using film would be a real headache, and ended up shooting the entire thing on his iPhone.”

I was struck by how much the video reminded me of the video for “My Room” by Eric’s Trip, which was probably shot on an actual Super 8.
